District News - Thank You!

To Our Community, Parents, Students, and Staff,

For a school bond to pass with a 2 to 1 approval rating, it takes a tremendous amount of people working for that passage.  Anahuac ISD wishes to express its sincere thanks to all those people who worked all those countless hours in support of our bond effort!

Thank you to the AISD School Board for having the vision and the courage to say, “This is the time!”

Thank you to the over 50 persons who met for 5 night meetings in March of 2008 to develop a Five-Year Plan for AISD!

Thank you to the over 50 persons who participated in a marathon planning session beginning in August 6th of 2009, of again 5 night meetings to develop a recommendation to present to the Board of Trustees on the amount of the bond and projects to be addressed in the bond!

Thank you to the outstanding Political Action Committee (PAC) led by Chairman, Cris Stephenson!  Many persons on the committee devoted countless hours to insure the bond success.  A very special thank you goes to Cris for his appearance and explanatory speech at the five community forums, the Lions Club, the ESA sorority, and the Chamber of Commerce meetings.  Another special thank you to Advertising Chairman, Mary Beth Bess for creating and promoting the slogan “Vote Yes, for Student Safety and Success” that did indeed result in many yes votes.  And another special thank you to Anahuac National Bank who donated $2500 to the PAC so that the PAC did not have to spend their time raising money, but rather could devote their efforts to “getting out the vote.”

We are so proud and appreciative of the public service announcement and PowerPoint slide show made by the high school students!

We can not forget the efforts of our architect, Dale Rabe, who went way above the ordinary job of an architect in attending our meetings and passing out flyers at many events!

We would be remiss if we did not send a special thank you to the voters in Oak Island/Double Bayou and Smith Point, who despite enormous loss from Ike, still put the children of Anahuac ISD first!

Finally, a huge thank you to all those other people both on the staff and in the community who organized and attended the forums, spent countless hours on the phone or in the community supporting our students, and helped in ways too numerous to name!

In service to the safety and success of our students,

Linda Kay Barnhart, Superintendent AISD

The Pride of Anahuac Receives 4th in State!

Thanks to all of you who had a hand in the band’s homecoming and to all of you who made the journey to San Antonio to cheer on the hometown team.  The band represented us well placing 2nd in prelims and 4th in finals of the UIL state marching contest out of the top 18 bands in the state.  We are very proud of our students and just as proud to have such wonderful support.  Thanks for supporting the Pride of Anahuac!
