Regional Cross Country Meet
The Anahauc Lady Panther Cross Country team traveled to Humble, Texas Saturday to compete in the Regionl Meet. The girls earned the trip by finishing in 3rd place at the District Meet on October 28th. The Anahuac Girls team have made it to regionals 7 out of the last 8 years. The girls have worked hard all season with not only their running but other school related activities. Two of the girls play volleyball and 4 of the girls participated earlier in the week with the band who finished 4th at the State contest. The girls are also academic stand outs and are a pleasure to work with. The school and the community can rest assured that these girls represented Anahuac with pride and to the best of their ability.
Saturday was a great day to run and the girls took advantage of the weather and the flat, dry course to post some of their best times of the season. The girls finished as a team in 14th position out of 19 teams, 136 girls completed the race. Freshman Whitney Abshier lead the Anahuac girls and finished the course in 28th position with a time of 13:51; Junior Kia Moulton finished in 51st position with a time of 14:27; Sophomore Elissa Richard improved her time and finished the two mile race in 14:55; Seniors Cali Smith and four year runner Corie Saxman both improved their times and finished in 16:56 and 17:39 respectively. Again, these girls have worked hard all season and it payed off with a great year. The team will graduate two girls and will look forward to another great season next year.

Congrats to Cali, Kelly, and Corrie for receiving Academic All State honors in Cross Country!! We are proud of you!!
