Ken is a 1980 graduate of DeSoto High School, Desoto, Texas. He attended the University of Texas – Arlington, where he received his Associate of Business Administration degree. He continued his professional education at the American Institute of Banking – Dallas, while completing study at Graduate Banking Schools at East Texas State University, the University of Texas, and Southern Methodist University. Ken graduated from the Colorado Technical University and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. In 1981, Ken began his banking career at Desoto State Bank as an Assistant Vice President and in 1984 was hired by the First State Bank in Italy, Texas. In 1991, Ken moved to First National Bank of Big Lake, Texas, and, as a Senior VP, was responsible for the overall operations of the bank and was instrumental in opening the bank’s first branch in Del Rio, Texas. In 1994, Ken was employed by Anahuac National Bank as Executive Vice President and was soon promoted to President & CEO. As an Officer, Director, and minority owner, Ken has directed the bank since 1995 and, during his tenure, has overseen the growth of Anahuac National Bank with great advancements in technology, new products, and customer service. In addition, the bank opened its branch, Barbers Hill Bank in Mont Belvieu in 2000, and plans include the opening of a branch in Winnie, Texas, in 2007. “We feel at home in all parts of Chambers County and are proud that Anahuac National Bank is the largest independently owned bank in our County.” Ken has been a civic and community-minded businessperson throughout his banking career. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Board of the Anahuac Area Chamber of Commerce, as well serving on the Board of the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a director for the American Institute of Banking, Southeast Texas, Small Business Administration Advisory Council at the University of Texas – Permian Basin, and Independent Bankers Association of Texas – Southeast Texas Grassroots Committee. His community service also includes his involvement as a coach with the Anahuac Youth Athletic Association since 1994. Ken is most proud of his family - wife Pam who is a graduate of East Chambers Consolidated School District and an employee of Chambers County, and their children Kristin, Shae, Bria, and Jace (all AISD students), and Kendal, a “future” Panther!
