Pre-Kindergarten

The pre-kindergarten program is a half-day program for eligible four year olds. The program stresses intensive language development and focuses on developmental appropriate skills that prepare the students to be successful in kindergarten.

To be eligible for the pre-kindergarten program a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be four years old on or before September 1; and
  2. Be eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program; or
  3. Be classified as Limited English Proficient as evidenced by scores on a language test; or
  4. Be classified as homeless; or
  5. Is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the U.S. including the state military or a reserved or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
  6. Is the child of a member of the armed forces of the U.S. including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving active duty; or
  7. Is or has ever been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearning under Section 262.201 Family Code
