Barnhart’s Monday Morning Message to the Community for November 16, 2009
This year, the theme for AISD is Ride for the Brand. The theme comes from the saying that cowboys use when they say, “We ride for Bar S.” It means that they have loyalty to the brand in every way. I am attempting to write a Monday Morning Message to the staff and thought that I would share it with you. Here is the first posting for you.
Cowboys Keep up With Ranch Improvements:
This past week, things started popping in preparation for the bond projects getting underway. We set December 7 as a time for Doug Whitt, Southwest Securities, to come down and discuss with the board a financial plan for selling the bonds.
At the Board meeting on Tuesday night, we talked about all the next moves for the Board as they implement the bond. Two days last week, Dick Walker, Business Manager, Jim Felice Maintenance Director , Richard Barnhart, Technology Director, and I met with Dale Rabe, Architect, to start looking at site plans and thinking through things. This week, we will begin more intense meetings with staff.
The Ranch always tries to have good training for its Herd:
We have started a pilot program using Rosetta Stone at the High School for the teaching of Spanish.
As you may have heard, there was a simulated bus accident on Friday. The Admin Team will be discussing how we can continue to plan for emergencies.
Last week, the Elementary Library sponsored an author that writes stories using dogs to teach character development. I did not get to attend, but I understand he was really good and the children were excited about reading the books.

Cowboys work together for the good of the ranch:
I gathered the information from all three campuses to turn in to Stone Energy for a science grant for equipment for each campus. Keep your fingers crossed.
Cowboys stay informed:
Gulf Coast Educational Consortium at Liberty is in the process of adding a unit for Elementary. This should help the district if we have a child too young for the secondary discipline program.
Have a good week. You are always invited to call the Superintendent’s office with questions.
