ACCELERATED MATH UPDATE: NOVEMBER 11, 2009

ACCELERATED MATH

Fifth Grade students mastered a total of 2,744 AM objectives for the 2nd Six Weeks!

Students have been vigorously working at the 4th grade level on AM since the beginning of the school year in order for them to review and be better prepared for the Fifth Grade material that has been presented in class.  We hope to have most students ready to begin working on the Fifth Grade level shortly after Christmas.

As your child progresses, we encourage them to set higher personal goals.  We are also working to better prepare your child for Middle School by raising our expectations for success.   The Goals for Fifth Grade students for Accelerated Math, AM, for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grading periods will be 25 objectives.  Students will continue to work on AM in class, as well as have practices assigned as homework on most Mondays and Wednesdays.  We encourage students to work a few problems every night, so that their workload is lighter on the days that AM is assigned as homework.  In order to meet their goals, a student should scan at least one AM Test every week.  We have found that most students can exceed these expectations by following these simple guidelines.  Thank you for your assistance in preparing your child to be a successful student!
