Work on projects to enter in Youth Project show. The topic is: "Consumer Energy Conservation." Every student must do a project. All students who are eligible will have their project entered. |
Participation Grade - Applies to both classes
As stated in your student's User Agreement, gum and candy are not allowed in the computer lab. This has continued to be a daily problem. As a result, I have had to resort to daily consequences. Each student will start to week with a 100 for participation. Each day he/she comes in with gum/candy it will cost him/her 10 points. By the choices they make, they could end the week with anything between a 100 and a 50. I would appreciate your support on this matter. The cost of the damage that gum can cause in this lab can run into the $100s of dollars. It has happened in the past.
If you ever have any question, comments, concerns about grades, assignments, Internet Safety or any other issues that concern your student, please do not hesitate to contact me. Laura Willcox

Internet Safety
Internet Safety is something I feel very passionate about and spend a lot of time teaching my students. I think it is very important for the youth of this digital generation to understand the dangers and consequences of their actions on the Internet and use of technology. It is also important for us, as adults, parents, and caregivers to become "tech savvy" and be logged in to this cyber world of our youth.
I will frequently add links to this section which will help you as a parent to become more "tech savvy" and give you resources to refer to in the future. Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or comments.
Know what your kids are up to online!
The Internet is like a giant city, with hundreds of millions of people. Most of them are good. Most of the streets are safe. But not all of them. Should our children be out there alone? Should they roam the Internet without adult supervision?
Would you drop your child off in a "bad" part of town for 24-48 hours to survive on his/her own?
Of course not, but when we do not supervise them while on the Internet, teach them proper, safe Internet use this is exactly what we are doing. We are putting our children in harms way.
Be aware of your child's Internet activities!!!! Do not leave them out there alone and unsupervised.
I also have an excellent video, "The Digital Age". If any one is interested in checking it out from me, please contact me. It contains a great deal of valuable information. Laura Willcox
